IN SUPPORT OF MAJLISUL ULAMA OF MALAWI ON CLARIFICATION OF PROPER RUQYA PRACTICES IN ISLAM

The recent statement from Majlisul Ulama of Malawi regarding Ruqya practices has perpetuated the need of having a vibrant Islamic leadership on issues related to Islam and Muslims in order to safeguard the correct teachings of Islam and protect Muslims against falling into fitnah emanating from sicknesses and evil jinns.

Islamic Foundation For Development (IFFD) would like to applaud the council of Ulama for taking a bold stand against some Ruqya practices that are contrary to the correct teachings of Islam.

The Foundation learned with great concern that some among us have deviated to an extent of  becoming healers forgetting that healing only comes from the Almighty Allah. It is a shame for some one to confuse administering medication to the sick as the same as healing.

IFFD invites individuals, institutions to take heed of the statement by the Majlis Ulama.

It is high time for Muslims in Malawi to respect Leadership of Islam in order to bring unity, love and harmony so that we achieve the common goal.

We wish the council of Ulama well so that it continues guiding Muslims in many issues of importance, remain vigilant and intervene quickly when issues erupt.
